Timmy Williamson Bio

ABOUT

Timmy is a 23 year old Christian Music Artist from Virginia Beach, Virginia. When Timmy was five years old, his mom was reading a book to him called Papa Chuck’s Big Ideas in the Bible by Charles Swindoll. As she was reading, she came to the end of the story where there was always a Bible verse. The verse was Romans 10:9, “If you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.” Timmy looked up at his mom and said, “Mom, I believe that.” Timmy's mom then prayed with him and he became a Christian.

In the spring of 2014, Timmy graduated from Liberty University with degrees in Worship and Music Studies and Theatre Performance. He enjoys singing a variety of music including Contemporary Christian, Southern Gospel, Broadway, and Country Christian. He has enjoyed singing in many concerts, churches, and other special events.

Timmy has had the amazing opportunity of recording two albums. His first album, "No Strangers to Him," was recorded in Franklin, TN in 2009, and his second album was recorded in 2011 and is titled "Framed with His Glory."

Liberty University brought many opportunities to Timmy including performing in 12 collegiate level musicals and 4 professional musicals. He has played many roles including: Curly in Oklahoma!, Cinderella's Prince/Wolf 1 in Into the Woods, Firmin in Phantom of the Opera, and Javert in Les Miserables. He has also directed 4 children's musicals at his home church in Virginia Beach. In May 2014 he took the position of Interim Music Director at Swift Creek Baptist Church in Colonial Heights, Virginia, where he will be working until the end of December.

Besides singing and performing in musicals, Timmy enjoys spending time with friends and family and playing sports. He is extremely competitive and always ready to challenge someone to a game.

Timmy has enjoyed singing Christian music for many years. One of his earliest music memories was when he participated in Tabernacle Church of Norfolk's children's choir when he was 7. However, long before this, according to his parents, he would be enthralled with the music portion of church services, and then, like clock-work, sleep through the sermon on his mom's and Papa's lap. (Someone must be able to identify with this :) He no longer falls asleep in church :) ). He has been involved in music activities ever since, including taking private piano lessons for 7 years. He has enjoyed singing in churches all over Virginia including Grace Bible Church (Virginia Beach), Tabernacle Church of Norfolk (Norfolk), and Thomas Road Baptist Church (Lynchburg).

During Timmy's high school years, he attended the Stamps Baxter School of Music in Tennessee where he continued his study in voice and piano. Around this time, he also began holding his own concerts in the Virginia Beach area. During his senior year at Norfolk Christian High School, he participated in chorus and the Virginia Chorale's Young Singer's Project.

Throughout the years, he has been a dedicated member of the Children's Music/Drama Team at his home church, Grace Bible Church,  and Adult Worship Team. Additionally, he has sung at many banquets, weddings, and other special events.

While at Liberty University, he had the opportunity to sing for Thomas Road Baptist Church's Sunday School services many times as well as in the main service. During Timmy's junior year of college, the Worship and Music Studies department of Liberty University awarded him the honor of Junior Class Male Vocalist of the Year for the 2011-2012 school year. During his final year at Liberty, the Music Department awarded him Male Vocalist of the Year.

In the summer of 2012 Timmy served as an intern at First Baptist Church of Dallas, Texas. This was an amazing experience in which he learned many things about ministry and met some great friends! He had the opportunity to return to First Dallas in December of 2012, and was a featured soloist for their services.

In September 2014 Timmy traveled to Pigeon Forge, Tennessee in order to be a part of the National Quartet Convention. He participated in the Regional Artist Showcase and had the opportunity to sing many times throughout his week at the convention.

Music Background

At the age of 7, Timmy was in his first musical in which he sang a duet with his brother. Little did he know that this first experience, would lead to many more opportunities onstage. In middle school, Timmy performed in musicals such as The Sound of Music and Fiddler on the Roof. It was also during this time, that he went to the Children's Ministry director at his home church and asked for permission to direct a Children's Musical. The church agreed, and in the 7th grade, he directed his first Children's Musical Promise U.

It was no coincidence that this was the first show that he directed as it was written by the same lady, Kathie Hill, who wrote the first show Timmy was ever in. God had been preparing Timmy for this position. The show was a huge success and as a result he directed 3 more children's musicals in the coming years.

During his high school years at Norfolk Christian, Timmy performed in Into the Woods, The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe, and The Crucible. As the decision for college quickly approached, Timmy knew he wanted to study Christian Music at Liberty University. He also knew that Professor Chris Nelson, who directed him in Aladdin Jr., was a theatre professor at Liberty, and he thought he might audition to be in some of the shows.

Timmy's first show at Liberty was Big River, directed by, who else, Chris Nelson. After this show, Timmy participated in The Scarlet Pimpernel, A Christmas Carol, Civil War the Musical, and The Phantom of the Opera. Timmy had decided to pursue a minor in Theatre, but, during the summer of 2011, he officially added a double major in Theatre: Performance. Professors in both the Worship and Theatre departments agreed that the double major would be profitable for him. In 2014, he was given a KCACTF Irene Ryan Nomination for his role as Burl in Sanders Family Christmas, and upon graduation he was given the Highest Academic Achievement Award by the Theatre Arts Department. He graduated in May 2014.
