The Proverbs are one of Canada's best-known Christian music artists, with an impressive musical career that began in 1967 and continues to thrive today. This award winning gospel group enjoys many different musical influences, which are reflected in their music. The result is musical variety that is truly unique to the Proverbs, but always showcases their trademark smooth vocal harmonies.
The Proverbs have been voted Canada's top mixed gospel group more than a dozen times and have also shared billing with many of gospel music's top US artists, including those who are regularly featured on the popular Gaither Homecoming video series!
Although all members of the Proverbs are accomplished musicians, the Proverbs currently perform as a vocal group, accompanied by the background music from their albums. The Proverbs are presently touring in support of their 21st album - "The Proverbs - Distracted By God" - which is also available on iTunes, Facebook, or via their website at: www.theproverbs.com.
The Proverbs is comprised of founding group member Dave Daw and his wife Kathy, along with Dave's sister Karyl Tymciw (plus Karyl's husband Paul on live sound). Dave & Kathy's youngest daughter Natasha, also regularly joins Dave, Kathy & Karyl on stage as a fourth vocalist. The group is busy on a part-time basis, performing multiple concerts most weekends.
Dave & Kathy were married in 1979, and have four children, Jeremy, Justin, Angela & Natasha. Karyl & Paul were married in 1985 and have three children, Ashley, Ben and Jaccob. The Daws reside in Westport, ON - where they operate a professional recording studio (www.summitsound.com), specializing in CD & DVD manufacturing, graphic design, custom printing and church sound system sales and installation. The Tymciw's, live in Amhersview, ON and Karyl and Paul are employed in the neighbouring city of Kingston.
From humble beginnings in 1967, as a group of elementary school children, the Proverbs rose to national and international recognition as CANADA'S TOP MIXED GOSPEL GROUP - an honor bestowed upon them by the Canadian Gospel Music Association more than a dozen times. Kathy Daw has been voted Canada's top female gospel vocalist by CGMA 7 times and Dave & Kathy Daw, received the "CGMA (lifetime) ACHIEVEMENT AWARD" in recognition of outstanding contributions to the advancement of Gospel Music In Canada.
The Proverbs are dedicated to sharing their personal faith through quality musical performances that combine music, humor, and professional multi-media production, in an enjoyable package that is sure to be appreciated by listeners of all ages. The Proverbs dedication to excellence, results from a personal conviction that, "anything we do for Christ should be done to the best of our ability".
